'Tis the season for Spectra problems........

Howdy!

It's rare for a Spectra to come through the doors here, but I have two, and both exhibit the same problem...

RSS reports: Lock Line Busy....FAIL.

Cable is proper, ohms out according to spec but not certain if my 'old' PII, 200 Mhz. crapper on DOS 6.22 is the culprit, I have to check BIOS settings and see if something is 'ON' that should not be, but checking COM 2 shows power fail, which is of little concern as COM 1 is primary port.

I'll have to do a little more research here first to see if I come up with anything promising, it's just that annoying message that has me baffled.

Too bad I don't have a Spectra manual...DOH!

Guess I'll get a few of those now as well.

Running version R06.00.05

Thank you in advance!

I have seen that a number of times with different radios.
Tried all sorts of things. Different RIB's, different computers
and the like. These are mine own radios that this has
happened to.

My solution was to force feed a different code plug into
the radio. After that, I have not had the problem with
these same radios. In some cases you might be forced
to do a complete alignment on the radios as a result.

I have seen this problem, "BUSY Line locked..." and the RSS sees the BUSY line active and will not read or write on the DATA lines.

I check the levels on all three lines, BUSY, BUSS + and BUSS- for activity and level on a o scope. There should not be any activity on the lines at 'rest' ie. no buttons pressed, ect.

Some times the control head is loading down the lines.
Other times it turns out to be a bad MLM holding the line.

Will:

Strange that both radios suffer the same problem....But I suppose it's probable as well.

I just don' have any saved codeplugs as I rarely have any spectras to deal with...so the RSS never gets loaded.

I'll have to play a little more with these, but I doubt I'll get very far without a good codeplug to try so I can attempt to force in even a minimal codeplug to see what happens.

Time for codeplug super site me thinks!

Thanks all for your valued assistance!
