Common failure point on SmartRIB's?

Post by d119 »

Hi Group,

I have a number of Motorola SmartRIB's at the shop I work at that are all bad.

Bad meaning that when plugged in and turned on, I get no power light.

I've confirmed the cables I'm using to test are good.

I'm guessing that "technicians" prior to my arrival probably used the wrong cables for things like High-Power Spectra mobiles, etc.

Is there a common failure point in the SmartRIB related to incorrect cable usage or anything similar?

Is there anything I can do to repair these?

Thanks!

Is it possible they used wrong power transformer on the smartrib.
If memory serves me right I believe the polarities on the power connector are different from the standard rib to a smartrib.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

the transformer for the smartrib is 12v and the center pin is negative.

Thats fine - I have the correct power adapter.

The units still don't power on.
