M1225

My dad uses a VHF M1225 radio at work. I recently let him use a mic of my own until a new mic could be ordered. But, he brought it back today saying it did not solve the problem. The problem is when he keys the mic, the radio delays on transmitting. He said he doesn't shake the mic, he just holds the button until it transmits. Any ideas of what could be wrong? Could it be not enough power possibly?

Do you know if the Radio's and your dads radio are programed to 25 Khz wide band or 12.5 Khz narrow Band. If the Radio's are mismatched meaning your dad's radio is on 12.5 Khz and the rest of the Radio's are on 25 Khz there can be a delay with the transmission.

He has more than one M1225s that he uses and it has just recently started doing this. So, I doubt that has anything to do with it, unless it takes many years to start delaying. Thanks for the reply.

Received a batch of a few bad (new) microphones (HMN3596A) from Motorola parts earlier this year. Found the problem to be intermittent TX when an old mic was replaced with these. Traced the problem to the wire crimps not making on the mic's circuit board, which could have also resulted in mod problems just as well. Resoldered them and they worked fine. Have not seen a similiar problem in a pretty good while.
