I am running into a problem, I recieved my latest version of Astro Saber CPS from Motorola, when I read my astro saber 1 and programmed it, it took with no problem, now when I go to reprogram it, I get the pop up that says Advanced System Key Needed. There is no trunking at all in this radio. The radio was never programmed with the ASK. Anyone had any similar problems, also has any one had a problem with the CPS Crashinging and locking up the radio?

open up your saved codeplug on your computer and make your changes then write that to the radio.

I have had this problem many times with XTS3000s and Astro Sabers and have never used advanced system keys. Sometimes it will do it alot and sometimes it wont do it at all.

I have seen this also. Usually quitting the program and restarting will eventually work.
Recently I have been programming some XTS5000's on the Southern California ICIS Smatrnet system. The Astro program sees the ICIS system key at startup and i have not had an error message since.
It is funny since the XTS3000's we have are on a non trunking P25 channel and they have no use for any kind of system key.
Which version exactly

I am using version 5 something, I do not have it right infront of me, also the software will crash on me saying astroport.exe has generated an error and then the radio locks up, then I have to fight to get the radio out of strap mode and function normally again and then i have to attempt to program it again... It is making me nervous because I do not want this to door stop the radio. It is legit cps and my hardware is more then good enough to support the cps. I wonder if it is a CPS issue?
I have created a case with Motorola and the rep told me there are no known issues like what I am discribing with the CPS.

There are several 5...... something versions. There was recently a new version released and in the release notes it stated to only update with the new version on XTS radios, not if you were using it for the Astro Saber. Wonder if this could have any effect?

The latest and greatest I think is R05.01.00. Download your new updated copy and see if this solves your problem.....My guess is it probably will.
