What is the going rate for 56K or T1 lines in Ontario? How about simple 2 wire dedicated circuits for tone remote control?

I've wondered the same myself, for the US but feel that if I even have to ask the price, it's going to be above my spending limit.

I'm pretty sure the going rate for a T1 line runs approx $1500/mo in Nova Scotia, with a simple leased line running around $200/mo. Not sure how that would compare to Ontario.

For 56K, T1, etc., there are charges for each end of the circuit plus a mileage charge depending on how far the central offices are away from each other. But, even then, telco pricing is all over the map.

One of my clients has a T1 between two offices (for data) and Verizon charges about $780 per month for a 15 mile path. Of course, if Verizon engineering could get some new circuits provisioned, Verizon sales offered them two T1s, between the same two offices, for $785 per month. (That right - "buy" one, the second is only $5 more.)

Of course, that same client also has three T1s to the Internet -- about 22 miles to the POP -- and pricing for those ranges from $600-$650 per month depending on the ISP and includes the Internet access too. In every case, Verizon does nothing but provide the "local loop" -- my firm and/or the ISPs manages everything else -- but the prices vary dramatically.

Oh by the way we replace those pricey circuits with Packet. Just saved a SMR owner $1,400.00/mo for (2) sites by putting (2) packet swiched connections at each end for $50.00/month. (used to pay $1500.00/mo plus tax.)
