Flashing Adapter wont work with CDM1550 only

Perhaps someone here can shed some light on this for me...
I can not seem to be able to read/write or flash my CDM1550's with the Flashing Adapter in place.
When I remove the adapter, I can read/write fine.
As soon as I put it inline, if I try to read/write the CDM1550 I get a Check rib power, rib to radio, comp to rib... etc error message. If I try to flash I get a "Timeout while sending SBEP command" error. I am also unable to get the radio to enter bootstrap mode.
With this i figured the problem was with the flashing adapter, however I am able to read/write and flash my HT1250's with no problem whatsoever with the flash adapter in place.
Is the problem the adapter? The rib to CDM1550 prog cable? My technique?
All parts are Moto OEM and CPS is latest version.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

ok the mobiles and portables are different, the adaptor has an a/b switch, one for mobiles and one for portables. and the flash program is different for mobiles and portables. you aren't using the same flash program you use on your 1250 that you want to use on a 1550 are you? if you are you won't be able to read the 1550, you will get an error message. and are you trying to flash the 1550 from the mic jack or the rear 20 pin?

I am using the mobile flash software and attempting to flash through the mic jack.
My concern is that even with the flashing adapter in the "off" position, I can not read/write the 1550 (shouldn't the adapter be invisible when in this position?). However, with the adapter in the off position I CAN read and write HT's. I also can not put the CDM's in bootstrap mode.
If I take the adapter out of the equation I can read/write the CDM's no prob.
Thoughts?

That's your problem right there. You need the service/flash cable for the rear accessory connector:
AARKN4083A for CDM Service/Flash List $74
AARKN4081B for CDM Service/Flash Ribless List $150

exactly, you need to use the 20 pin on the back to flash a cdm.

I don't seem to have any problems flashing a CDM1550LS+ through the front mic jack using the ribless cable.

This is the only way I have ever flashed a CDM. Works good for me.

Right, the ribless cable is 10-pin for flashing through the mic jack. If you do not have the ribless cable, you require the 20-pin accessory cable to use with the regular RIB & adaptor.

Great! Thanks everyone for the answers!
And a special thanks to you Akardam for those part numbers!
Now, how was I to know that my "Program/Test Cable" @ $65.25 was incorrect and what I actually needed was the "Prog/Test Cable w/ Manual" @ $74.00?
Jeesh.
Off to moto I go....
