Are you getting the BUSY LED when receiving?

Do you hear the tone when changing VOL or Mode?

Check f500 on the command board.

Measure the voltage on each of the two speaker leads. You can do this with the speaker connected and disconnected. When the radio is squelched, you should have 0-1V DC on each lead and of course no audio. When the radio is receiving something and you expect to have audio, each speaker lead should be 6-7V DC and there should be audio on both leads.

If you don't get this, the audio PA is likely damaged. One common way this happens is when someone grounds one of the speaker lines. This can NOT be done on a Spectra; damage to the audio PA is extremely likely.

Time to get out the 'scope and schematic and follow the audio from the RF board through the command board and see where you don't have it.

AND, while you have the radio open, check for the infamous leaky-caps issue.

Happy tweaking.
