Anyone have any current prices of aftermarket Saber short batteries? The very short ones that are about as wide as the lower part of the radio itself...

I have an Astro Saber that is overly huge with the full-size battery and wideband antenna. I want to get a short battery and visar antenna for it.

Thanks!

I know wireless pacific has a volume discount on their super-small saber battery: http://www.pwcau.com/pdfs/lowres/Battery_lr.pdf
Wireless Pacific has announced a $59 Xmas Special on its super small (2") Saber 1900mA Li-ion batteries. Designed to shrink those “ultra-long” Astro Saber radios to just 7 inches and reduce weight by 35%. Now that's sure to cause some seasons greetings!

They're $59 in quantities >10

Maybe a group buy?

*sigh* I called that company up a while back in regard to the advertisment in MRT and came to find out that the shipping was hellatious and they wanted me to buy a pallet-load. I said "screw that" and that was the end of it.

I later found what I wanted from a taiwan vendor via this board, he got me pretty much the same thing and I think about the same price but I just bought 2 pieces.

just a FYI guys.

i got a report from a fairly knowledgable guy that these batts from wireless pacific are CRAP.

you can't buy them "direct" - they send you to some kind of sales rep...

he had ordered 20, had to pay about $100 in shipping - *AND* 4 of them were completely dead shorted right out of the box.... performance so far has been mediocre at best.

this coupled with one of the worst attempt at having a "sales" department - *EVER* - they truly SUCK both in product - and service.

stay away.

i'll take a trusty NTN4595 - or - if cost is no object - NTN8818 - the factory LION saber battery.

That's too bad. I liked the idea of a 2" battery with capacity almost equal to the full-size one. An ASTRO Saber is big even without a battery.

Maybe someone else will follow in their footsteps and make a similar product?
