Desktrac DC Retrofit?

Post by KWMR Radio »

I've just purchased a Desktrac L44SUM7000BT for use as part of our emergency communications network.

I'd like to use battery backup for this repeater and I see there is a space on the rear panel near the AC connector for a DC power input connector. But there is no connector installed.

Can anyone advise how to retrofit a DC input connection for this repeater?

Many Thanks,

RD

A couple of the teams Desktracs have the DC connector added. I also removed a resistor in the power supply. They must have the internal AC power supply disabled or the AC cord removed to run on battery. Otherwise the AC power supply will over charge the battery.

The factory way was using a diode isolation part added along with the DC plug, but very little information on this option.

::remember the AC power supply IS a wierd switcher........ design..
