Priority scan on XTS 3000

Problem:

Have a UHF XTS 3000 Model III in a Model I housing. Have the first 16 channels set up to scan our repeaters plus mutual aid. I can not however get the radio to revert to priority on Channel 1 when there is traffic on the other channels. i.e if there is traffic on a mutual aid channel and I am called on our primary channel 1, I miss the call. Was told the local Motorola shop that it is either a firm ware issue ( not current enough) or that because I have a Model III in a Model I housing the software/radio dont like that. Thoughts? thanks

This may be a silly question but why do you have a Model 3 in a Model 1 housing?

Well then I'd say the easy way to do it is to save the current radio's archive, write down the tuning data, and stuff a Model 1 srecord into the radio.

It sounds like a firmware upgrade is indeed the way to go.
