Clone 2 HT's into a 3rd?

Post by Bob KB1MNE »

Question:

If I have 2 HT1250s with 1 (different) set of 16 channels programmed into Zone 1 of each HT, is it possible to clone HT#1 into Zone 1 into HT#3 and HT#2 into Zone 2 of HT#3 or does the cloning process only work from Zone X to Zone X?

I have access and authorization to be on 2 seperate sets of public safety frequencies. Both organizations use HT1250s and both organizations have cloning cables to self program their portables from a dealer programmed radio. Ideally I'd like to program a single portable -- mine -- with each set of frequencies on seperate zones.

It would save a lot of time (and money) to be able to self-program instead of having to send the unit out to radio service. (I suppose it'll have to go out eventually to get unique ID's programmed for each zone but that part can wait.)

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

no that can't be done but if you get one of them done from the shop the way you want it you can clone that one to the others.

Thanks, I suspected it wouldn't be possible.

I'll just have to have my favorite radio guy do both zone's at once and get it over with. (I didn't mention before that the two organizations in question use different rival radio service contractors... )
