Questions about XTS5000 housing replacement

Post by n6fnp »

I have an XTS5000 with a yellow case and am looking at getting
a black housing and have a couple of questions.

The case on the radio now has a label on the top front that
reads "XTS5000R". Can I use a non-ruggedized case, or do I
need to get a ruggedized one? (I.E. are ruggedized and
non-ruggedized housings interchangeable?)

I have seen a case for sale, but it doesn't have keypad
buttons. I have not opened up my radio yet. Is the button
keypad part of the case or do they stay with the radio section
when the case is removed?

Does anyone have a black XTS5K case for sale?
