Setting Unit ID for MT1000

I am successfully programming my MT1000's except for the Unit ID and Signalling Type. These are contained in the SIGNALLING section with a note saying "Requires Signalling Option". How do I ascertain whether I have this or not?

NOTE: The radio DOES issue the PTT Sidetone for the channels where Signaling is enabled but the MDC Console is not receiving anything. In the Signalling screen, there IS a Unit ID and a Type being read from the radio, which I can edit, but they will not 'stick' in the radio when re-written.

TIA!

When you go into the signalling options (f4 f4 f3), you should be able to change the signalling type with the arrow keys... It will scroll through the signalling types until you get to MDC1200...

You can also try to create a new codeplug with that signalling type, rather than using the one you read from the radio, and see if that will work. The MT1000 RSS will let you create one without having to read the radio first.

Radios that have the signalling option have this option built into the front
cover of the radio. When you read on of these radios it reads the radio
then it will read the front cover seperately. If all works well you'll see
the seperate reads. Physically the front covers also look differently, if your not familiar post a pic. on the board here and many of the folks here
could tell you if it's a standard or signalling cover or take a look at a MT-1000 pic. on EBay for comparison- the difference is under the speaker the
cover tapers off in thickness rapidly on a standard, on a signalling front
the thick area extends almost to the bottom of the front cover.
Good Luck !

OKAY! Excellent description! Thank you. All my MT1000's have a front cover which is raised all the way to the bottom. I saw one on ebay whose raised section ends at the bottom of the speaker. So... let's say I DO have the Signalling Options.

I have lots more data since the other day...

1--when hooked up, each radio reads in two steps... "Reading Controller" and "Reading Front Cover". Both progress bars step along and reach 100%.
2--All the Signalling options are populated with values and are editable. When writing back, the radios reach 100% while "Programming Controller" but do not progress when "Programming Front Cover".
3--But as if all is fine, I am told to "turn off and on radio".
4--Acknowledging this error gets me a "Serial Bus Access Error 006".
5--upon re-read, the Signalling options remain unchanged in both radios while everything else is programmed correct (including QCII).
6--PTT Sidetones ARE issued for the channels I choose, but nothing is getting to the Console.

NOTE: I have several hundred bucks of brand new Polaris cables and RIB as suggested in several posts in this forum, which correctly programs my HT1000's fine, so I am assuming this is not the prob.

Should I be looking at 'resetting' the plugs as discussed in http://www.batlabs.com/ht6hack.html?

Thank you for this suggestion - new or re-read - the results are as above.

Sounds like the only problem is 'writing' to the MDC front. There were
several different MDC fronts made. You might be attempting to write a
format to the MDC front that it is incapable of.
