I recently aquired an MTS2000. It is a Model 1 with top/display 48 ch with firmware of 6.58. For some reason on some of the channels I programmed into it 5 to be exact Iam getting a Fail 002 code on them. Can anyone explain what a Fail 002 code means?
Thanks

the code means there is something corrupted in the codeplug:
FAIL 002 F002 Selected Mode (Zone/Channel) codeplug checksum error Bad codeplug data

Ok is it something that I could fix my self or does it mean a trip to my local MSS?

if you have the proper equiptment and a know good codeplug or the orginal codeplug you could do it.

"known good codeplug" means a saved one from that radio that would be in good shape. It could be inferred to use another codeplug that is known good but from another radio which on that radio would be a bad thing (toolproofing).
I would try to delete all of the modes (except for #1 because you have to leave one), then create new modes from scratch. Then delete the mode #1 since you couldn't delete it before. This way your mode list should be pure. Beyond that, maybe you need to reinstall your rss?

does it let you read/write to the radio? if so read the radio and delete all channels down to one and write that to the radio. then read it back and add channels a couple at a time saving them to file and writing them to the radio and watch to see if errors show up.
