Hello we just got a new pr400 as a replacement for one damaged at a fire. I am trying to clone the radio from a unit we have had since last spring. I am getting a error #2437 codeplug version not supported.
Our software is version R05.04 and firmware is R03.00.01 and codeplug 03.00
Any ideas. Thanks Tim

Hello not sure what youean to do. Open the cps in 2 windows and drag and drop the file from the older radio into the black cps i have open and write that to the radio? The cps will not let me read the radio or do anything to the newer unit. It reads the old radio fine.
Thanks Tim

Latest CPS is R05.05 and is needed to program your newest radio as it has the latest firmware.

Hello Thanks
I need to get in contact with the dealer we bought our programming package from. This is the secnd time i have had to get upgrades. He does not seem to what to give us the password so we can get the updates ourselfs. Not sure why. We bought the software and all the programming items so we would not have to depend on the dealer all the time and save some money. seems it is starting to be a pain. Any ideas on how we can gte him to give us the stuff we need so we can update the radios without going thru all this.

uh, that dealer sold you software? for how much? dealers don't sell software, customers have to go through motorola directly because of the licensing. did he give you the actual CD from motorola, or was the CD a copy....?

so basically you can go to the dealer and let him know you'll call motorola for the update, and let them know he's reselling their software, and unless he's incredibly stupid he'll bend over backwards for you and get you that update yesterday

Hello yes we bought it from a dealer. Don't rememeber the cost around $400.00 When we got the programmng package we got a rib box and all the cables to program the pr400 and the mobels we bought. (i think cm300's can not remember the name right now). We also got 2 CD's with the cases and the paper inserts look just like the one i see at the M Dealers. 1 cd has the CPS on it and the other cd had some kind of tuneing program. We never filled out any paper work for Motorola about licencing. Could we get in trouble for this??
We bought all this so that would not happen.
Thanks Tim

OK, well at least it sounds like the software itself is a legit copy from /\/\.

The purchase price of the software includes 3 years of free updates, so regardless you should not have any problems obtaining the latest version. I would contact the dealer and give him one last chance to get you the update (and an understanding he will give you the updates free of charge for 3 years from the purchase date). Otherwise, call Motorola, tell them what's going on, and they should see to it that you get your upgrade.

I don't think there is much chance of you catching any flak over the situation, as it's the dealer's responsibility to refer you to Motorola for programming software. He's just not supposed to be selling it to end users, in part because of situations like yours.

Hello Thanks for you help. I got an email from the dealer and he said he could not get the updates to call Motorola direct. I copyed him what you said about dealers not selling software and told him i would call Motorola Wednesday if i did not here from him. I have never called them do you have their Phone number?
Thanks Tim

Call Motorola's main customer service line at (800) 814-0601. They will be able to direct you accordingly. The first step will probably be to open up a MOL account, as all of the licensing is done electronically at this point. Once that's done, and they have confirmed you have a valid subscription to the software, you should be able to download the current version from MOL. You may or may not still be able to order physical CD copies of the install discs - it depends on whether Moto still has them.

Good luck.

Yes, be sure to stress that the dealer that sold you the software is not permitting you to obtain updates, of which you are entitled to 3 years worth with each license purchase. It's unfortunate you ran into these problems, but hopefully putting a call into Motorola and clueing them in on the situation will prevent it from happening again.

Hello all thanks for the info. He came across with a Cd after i told him i was going to call Motorola. We do have an account with Motorola.
Here is a link to the web site
https://businessonline.motorola.com

Is this the same web site i would use to buy software??
If not is there one or is the only way to get it is to call.
Thanks For all your help. Tim

glad to hear the dealer finally got off his rear and did the right thing. i think he would have found it much easier to give you the CD than have the IP legal team breathing down his neck. you can still hold that over his head if you have any problems with him ;)

well, you wouldn't necessarily buy the software from MOL until you have had the license agreement approved and the software is available. it's going a bit off topic, but apparently distribution of software depends on who you are, where you live, and what day of the week it is. seriously though, in some regions it's much harder for endusers to obtain software. anyways, assuming all criteria are met, once the agreement is approved you can generally order the software on MOL, and then once it's paid for you can ask the customer service department to enable it to be downloaded from the resource center.

Go to businessonline.motorola.com and log in.

When you are logged in, click on Resource Center dropdown and go to "Resource Center", not software support.

Click on "Software" in the list on the left side. You will see a listing of things you can access. If you cannot see any software listings at all, you do not have a Motorola software license.

If you can see Software, click on "Two-Way" and then "CP-PR portables and CP-PM Mobiles". If you have gotten this far, but you cannot see CPS listings, you are not licensed for that product, and you will need to call the number someone else posted and go through the steps for a software license.

You might be able to see "Commercial Series Upgrade kits" which are firmware downloads, or "customer release notes" but neither of them are the CPS.

You need to get fully set up, because at some point you may want to upgrade all your radios to the latest firmware....or just work with two versions of CPS. Firmware upgrades can be a nail biting experience and I don't recommend doing them unless you are really up to speed with the process.

I replied to a thread on another forum the other week and told the op that his firmware version was rather old and that he really should upgrade.... I didn't notice the thread was from Aug 2004. duh.
