Tonight I was doing some editing of freqs on my Saber III's and II's I had no trouble on the III UHF and II VHF clear. I went to change a few freqs in the Saber III VHF Secure. I Read it fine, saved the Codeplug, Made the changes. Went to write to it and I got the following Error
" DATA COLLISION in patch before 5"
A FATAL ERROR was detected during the BUILD. Therefore the RPF was not programmed into the radio personality.
press F2 to continue
I went back and got the original codeplug that I saved and tried that and got the same Error. Is the EPROM getting flaky? The radio works great. Never had a problem before this.
I seached the board and the only thing close was a post about someting simular that MONTY was able to give a few suggestions that I tried.

Check batteries first, they are always the one single trouble area, as well as the RIB supply.
Look over your CP build to see if there are errors in any of the fields, you may have missed something.
Next, what CORE version is the radio, and what options are you trying to program into the radio, this does make a difference if you attempting to add 6D or 8D options on a 5D CORE, they do not work and are not supported in that version CORE either.
One other item you may need to look at, is the RSS version as well, older versions will cause read/write errors if the radio was programmed with later versions of RSS than the version you are using.
On the PC side, look at disabling any IR port and its associated IRQ, this will cause errors as well.
CPU speeds can play into this also, but if under 150 Mhz, you should be okay.
Sabers prefer native DOS 6.22, but you can get away with a DOS prompt use...on occasion, but not always.
I hope this helps, if not, Email me and I'll work with you 1 on 1 to fix the trouble.

Its not the computer, Thats fine. Ive used the same computer for this radio since I have had it. Ill try a new battery in the RIB and freshly charged radio battery. I may try to dump a New codeplug

I was able to write to the radio finally after some trial and error. I found a copy off RSS 5.0 I had. I was able to read and write to it without changing anything. I then went and used my copy of 7.01 and was able to read but when i wrote to it I got a ERR 0 81. I tried to reload the saved codeplug. But it wouldnt take it. I even created a new codeplug and that took. The copy I read from the radio still woudnt take. I had to create a new codeplug with a different model # This is a secure radio. I made up a non-secure and wrote to it with a existing saved codeplug and that took . It works fine as a standard. I have no use for secure anyway. Now i have go go and reprogram 80 some freqs....

The error here is an error compiling the codeplug (RPF) before sending it to the radio. The error has nothing to do with the cable, RIB, batteries, etc. You've got a corrupt codeplug. Rebuild from scratch.
