Will a MTS2000 charger charge a XTS2500 battery?

The battery fits in the charger and the light comes on, but is this acceptable?

Thanks in advance for taking the time.

Depends on the charger - and the battery. Just because the battery fits in the charger and the charger appears to work - doesn't mean that it's charging the battery correctly.

A lot of the 2500 batteries I've seen floating around seem to be NiMh or Lithium Ion (LION) batteries.

If the MTS charger is older - it may do irreparable damage to the battery, since it may be designed to only handle NiCad batteries.

What are the part/model numbers on the charger and battery - and we can go from there.

XTS2500 batery - NTN9857C (7.5vdc nickel metal hydride)

MTS200 charger - NTN7209A

Talked with my salesman and he says yes, he seemed almost put off that I would ask the question.

Also, there are different model #'s MTS chargers in the field already, not sure exactly which one the customer has, the model # above is in my office.

Is there a reference that I can get my hands on to search for compatability?

According to:

That charger will charge both NiMh and NiCad batteries, so as long as your doing that - you should be OK.

I'll try and dig around and find the users manual for the charger, but I would make sure you check all documentation to support the proper charging of NiMH batteries are supported by the charger.
