R100 Repeater

Is the R100 Repeater a good choice? Is it easy to program? What can you guyz tell me about this radio?Please reply asap the auction on ebay ends in 9 hours

Greetings,
I have a couple of R-100 repeaters, they're fairly easy to program. You'll need a VERY SLOW computer, preferably a 486. They tune very easily to the ham bands. They come in 2 flavors, PL or DPL, so make sure you get what you need, it's very difficult to switch, you'll need a new eeprom. Unless you use an external controller, then you'll have more flexibilty. If you have any more questions feel free to email me directly

The R100 software requires DOS 6.x AND a 286 10mhz or slower computer. Remember the software was written in the late '70's....
The R100 IS a very good repeater, even by today's standards....

While the 286 is probably the prefered computer to program these, we have successfully used our 486's to reprogram these in the field since the only 286 we have left happens to be a desktop. We have experienced no issues as long as we were doing this is a native DOS enviroment and not ever booting into windows.
