I just bought a RIB for my MTS2000 as well as aquire a computer. I think either the computer, or the RIB is bad. The computer is a 90MHz Pentium 1 with 16MB RAM MS-DOS 6.22 RSS R06.07
The RIB is the MTS2000 RIB from ixcessory.com I often get checksum errors, and request not ACKed/NAKed errors. I can't figure out if it is the computer or the RIB. I hope it is the computer since I may be purchasing the CPS soon. Anyway, how can I tell which is bad? Thanks

PS: I saw many suggestions for checking the flex cable. I know it is not that since when I bring the radio to my friend gatekeep's house, he can program it without issue.

Well why not take the cable, the rib and the radio next time.

The best way to tell if the RIB is bad is to employ an age-old troubleshooting technique.

Find a programming set up that is a known good arrangement: computer, PC-to-RIB cable, RIB, RIB-to-radio cable, and radio.

Verify that it works.

Now substitute only the RIB to be evaluated and compare the results.

It may well be that this test has to be run under several programming environments (i.e., RSS and CPS packages), as the demands on the RIB seem to vary in come cases.
