Can you rename the Ch display on a maxtrac 300 like this?

It seems to be It's stated you can reprogram a GM300 and maxtrac to show different things on the display. I'm not quite sure how to do that, but I might have just over-looked how to.
If anyone can advise or point me in the right direction, that'd be great.

Its been covered a few times, but is often misunderstood.
"Lower" models of Maxtrac/Radius/GM300 versions have fixed channel numbers.
For example a 6 channel radio can only have one thru six for the display and they are in order, and can not be changed..
The "higher" models allow you to "alias" the channel numbers. In those cases you can re-number any or all channels with numbers from 01 to 99.
You can even use the same "alias" number more than once, which can get confusing.
And the numbers can be in any order you want.
As mentioned in that linked discussion, you can hack some radios for more than the designed channels.
And in some cases you can blank and re-initialize the radio as "High Signalling" and have the features you want.
There are too many variables to explain what exact model will be able to do what. Depends on the logic board.
I find the best combination to be any radio with the HLN9313 logic board, blank it, re-initialize it as a Maxtrac 300, High Signalling, 32 channels, and then you have all the best features.
Last thing, there was a 99 channel Low Band Maxtrac made for a power company (or local govt. power) in eastern Canada.
They are rare, and take a special RSS, and have a specially modified logic board.
If you can not get the cursor in RSS into the dialog box to change the channel number, then "alias" numbering is not supported on the model of radio you have.
Hope that helps.

That was all I needed to know.
If I had posted when I was not half asleep, I would have stated that this would be for a 32ch Maxtrac 300 with the full signaling package.

On a 32 channel full signaling Maxtrac, you should also have the option to enable Zone/Mode Display, which will display channel numbers as A1, A2, B3, G7, etc.
If you made it through that thread
http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.p ... ac+speaker you saw some examples of how it can be used.
Look for it under Radio Wide Configuration. The help screens give the translation tables from two-digit numbers to "zoned" numbers. You can assign your own numbers from 1-99, then enable zone/mode display so you have some flexibility in how they are labeled.

This will be needed to program a VHF Maxtrac, but we have Matxtrac 900mhz at work that are programmed like that (1A-1H to 8A-8H plus Conv ch 1-10) but I had no idea on how to do that.
I odn't have the radio yet, but I will look at it when I can. Thanks a lot
