Astro Spectra NLA?

Post by firetech792 »

Tried searching but couldn't come up with anything.

I'm wondering if the Astro Spectra is still available? Last time my agency ordered some was about 2 years ago. And back then there were rumors of it being discontinued. Now we are in need of a few more.
Thanks

Pete

I believe you are correct. You'll need to look at the XTL5000.

Spectra

You should however be able to get a XTL with Systems 9000 control group, so that the radio will act and perform very close to what you are used to. (no training issues)

Better get it quick, though. Last order I had a difficult time getting W4 optioned out, as moto is trying to phase them out, in favor of the O and M heads.

Which means it would be a good idea to consider converting to the new style heads... which are rather sexy compared to the old W-style.

The O9 is the cadillac head, replacement for the W9. I dont think the O9 is orderable yet.

I was told the Astro Spectra was going to be unavailable
after November 30th.

The O5 head is a nice head. Have been playing with one
for a while now on an XTL5000.

The head that comes with the PM1500 leaves much to be
desired. Maybe I am just spoiled after using the O5 head
on an XTL5000. My gut feeling is that they will have the O5
head available on the PM1500 in the future. All the cables
are the same. It would just be a software issure of the
PM1500 being able to talk to the O5 head.

The RSS is the same for both radios. It just determines
which radio is connected and does it's thing.

The O5 control heads are great. Finally a display that allows for enough text to be displayed compared to the tiny 8-char display of the W4/W5/W7. But unfortunately /\/\ is having to replace about 180 of our O5 control heads due to an intermittent radio reset problem.
