R09 and vista
I just got my new laptop the other day and it comes with the windows vista upgrade. So the questions is will astro R09 cps work with vista yet? I didn't see anything in the read me file.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
I've been running 05.00.02 (XTS 3000) CPS on my Vista machine for a few months now with a few issues....
1) The program tends to lock up randomly. Vista is too sensative to thinking a program is no longer running and notifies you it is going to try to shut it down. I found that if I stop trying to multi task while programming the radio the problem goes away.
2) The "help" function no longer works (microsoft removed support for it in Vista).
Use this info at your own discretion. Im not responsible for dead radios.....

They've replaced CHM and WinHelp with Assistance Platform, and dropped support for the oldies, but CHM happens to be the format used for CPS help.

Is that that "compiled hypertext" or whatver it is?
[rant]Everyday that goes by and I hear they don't support more and more, doesn't make me want to make the switch anytime soon. I was planning on waiting for the 1st service pack before I thought about it anyway, but the simple things really iritate me too. Who would have thought MS would have created a Windows version that pushed people away as much as this one does?[/rant]

No, that's CHM.LuiePL wrote:Is that that "compiled hypertext" or whatver it is?
They can't go on supporting every bit of ancient legacy crap forever. WinHelp could legitimately have gone away, but CHM isn't that old, so it should have stayed in, on the proviso that it was deprecated and would be removed from a future release.LuiePL wrote:[rant]Everyday that goes by and I hear they don't support more and more, doesn't make me want to make the switch anytime soon. In any case, very few large users are even going to consider large rolling out large Vista deployments for at least two years. They're keen to let other people find the bugs first, and that's the way I also operate.
