Spectra 800-mhz Conventional died?

I have an 800-mhz Conventional Spectra radio (45-watts) that was working when I first received it. Using RSS version 6.00, I uploaded the codeplug info, made programming changes, and then downloaded the changes back to the radio. As soon as I did so, I was getting Fail 01/82 and Fail 05/92 error codes, and the radio was no longer working properly. After researching on Batlabs, I tried reading it and then downloading to it immediately, which, after many attempts doing so, seemed to wake it up and it started receiving again. However, there was then a new Fail 01/92 code. After more Batlabs research, I followed the steps to initialize the EEPROM, which didn't do anything the first time around, so I tried it a second time. The radio has since gone totally dead, and does not respond to any attempts to power it up, in spite of my having confirmed that it is getting power. My RSS tells me to check power and other cable connections...

It was only after all this did I discover that the 9-volt battery in my aftermarket RIB was going dead (Aarrgh!!); however, after replacing the battery and trying again, it will no longer talk to this radio, still giving me the same error message (to check power and cabling connections).

Is there any chance of somehow reviving this unit? Or, should I give it a decent Christian burial and begin grieving for it?

Thanks... Bob

If you can not get it to power up you might try a new command board / mlm.

PM if you want to try the command board / mlm route I have some and i'm just up the way in Walnut Creek.

Hi Dylan,

Thanks for the response and the offer here.

I really don't know exactly what the Command Board or MLM does, or where it is located... nor how I could have somehow fried it? Can you please shed some light on that?

Thanks!

Bob,
Check the Batlabs Spectra page http://www.batlabs.com/spectra.html it has a write up on the MLM board. Look for "The MLM Board" on the page.

Simple answer is, it holds all the settings and startup functions for the radio.
