Desktrac Band Change Question

I was recently given a lowband DeskTrac base station with tone control with a bad PA.
I'd like to convert it to VHF or UHF.
Is it as simple as removing the old radio and installing the new one, minus covers, etc?
Are there changes to be made to the Tone Remote Control board? I plan on using this as a tone remote control station with CentraCom.
Thanks!

Should not be a problem. The radios seem to interchage OK.
What range is the LB radio chassis in it now?, I am looking for a 29-36 range radio or parts.

Will,
Unfortunately it's 42-50... But I had it receiving in 39MHz quite nicely, just no TX power out anywhere, the PA is bad. I get like 200mW out of it.
If you want it, anything to trade? Could get it to you at TRW this weekend. I'm in need of a VHF or UHF radio to put in it's place, prefer something with at least 8 channels so I can address all of it from the CentraCom.
Tks!

I'll be there too, with some low band and 902 gear.

I'll make it a point to have a portable on 446.000 CSQ Analog while I'm there so we can all hook up... Jeff/Will, that work for you?
will: What did you want to do trade-wise on the LB unit? radio + lunch = vhf or uhf for my project or ?
tks

Good enough. I know you're good for it. Would be nice to get a VHF or UHF radio in this thing though... as you know it needs to be 16 pin... doesnt matter on power level.

I think I took 446.0 out of my radio, so I'll try to remember to put it back in. I'll probably be in Row B, with a yellow ARRL Life Member badge on.

I found a Maxtrac VHF that was in a DeskTrac that had a shorted power supply. In fact the DeskTrac base came from San Diego....
VHF 45 watt 16 ch full signaling Maxtrac 300.
See you all on Saturday morn.,
