Syntor Systems 9000 ext radio query

I have a Syntor Systems 9000 radio & siren. Is it possible to use the siren amp to provide ext radio facility for audio from an additional radio?

Thanks.

I would suspect not, there was no factory provision for that, that I am aware of.

You may be able to feed the 'other radio's' audio in where the siren gets the RX audio from the X9000 as an input. I am thinking moving a wire in the connector should do it.

I believe the Siren/PA main cable pin 9 Filtered Audio is the source for the External radio audio.

The dual radio Syntor X 9000 setups never connect the Filtered Audio from the second radio to anything because there is no way to use it. The primary radio gets exclusive use of the Siren/PA audio connections. I suppose a single pole double throw switch could be rigged to select which radio provides the Filtered Audio audio to the Siren/PA. Even more fancy, an op-amp with unity gain could be setup as a mixer to inject audio from two or more sources into the Siren/PA filtered audio input. However, I'm not totally sure if the Systems 9000 serial data is used by the Siren/PA to detect when the primary receiver is active or not (this is the same serial data that controls the green Rx light on the head). If it is used then you could only use Filtered Audio from the primary radio drawer for EXT radio. Some simple experimenting with a scope, audio signal generator and connector pin removal tool could answer this usability question without too much trouble.

The above ideas would also apply to other radios if the substitute audio source is filtered to remove PL/DCS and has similar amplitude/impedance characteristics as the S9k Filtered Audio. Obviously this setup would be a disaster if used with a combined VRS and Siren/PA unit since both share the same audio path connections (the VRS is not usable in a dual radio X9k setup anyway).

Many thanks for that - I'll have a play around with it.
