XTS resetting

Post by dave.au »

Hi everyone, I have an unusual problem with one of my XTS 3K radios,

While turned on it will do a soft reset and beep at randomly. Someone told me that this is related to a corrupt codeplug.

By the way it does it on conventional channels and vote-scan channels .

I'd check the battery clearence. Some aftermarkets wouldnt fit in correctly, and I think there was some other issue with one of the case revisions that also did this with certain ones.

Check battery contacts. Are they worn away?
Most common problem for this.

Bad RF deck. Had this happen to a 3K and 5K. Both turned out to be the RF deck. Replaced it, and never had the radio spontaniously reset ever again.

Both were vhf.....hmmmmm :-?

Hi MattSR, no its another radio of mine, that fail 1/92 when i fixed it hasnt given me a problem since.

Hi Pj & RF Guy, battery clearence is good, ive got motorola genuine batterys also, and have checked that the battery contacts are ok,

So im guessing what as high tower said might be a bad RF deck or Bruce1807 said the contacts, well ill open her up and 'have a play'

thanks all for taking the time to reply.

Hello. I had a Nick radio that did that, but only when the radio was scanning. I sent it back, he replaced it, & been perfect ever since. Both radios had the same 4F1E00-9 flashcode. It was not a hardware problem. Good luck. GARY N4KVE
