What do you expect when your radios are being sent to a third world country by techs who just don't care, much less speak the language?

at least you got a Jedi back...Jose could have stuck you with a Waris or even less, something like a Spirit...welcome to Ed Zander's Mexirola...thanks at least Kenwood's USA HQ and depots are staffed by English speaking AMERCIAN CITIZENS.

They shipped my Minitor 5 to someone else twice, both times the wrong person returned it to the depot with a note it's not ours. It had a property ID decal on it that said who it belonged to.
On the third try, they sent it back to the same place again. Motorola called me up all proud and everything, gave me a FedEx tracking number. While they where still on the phone I looked it up, guess what they sent it back to the same place again. It had already been received and signed for.
Motorola sent a ship tag to them and they shipped it directly to me with out it ever passing thru Motorola again. Still works like crap but at least I got it back.
My thanks to Emergency Radio Service in Illionis for returning my pager 3 times, nice to know their are some good people out there.

Would have you complained it if was a an XTS5000?
Your little event has reminded me - I shipped a Min V in for repair about four months ago and I have totally forgot about it. How long does repair take?

I sent one radio in recently, the only way I got it back was I called and asked where it was...
they apparently had it sitting somewhere - ready to ship for about 1-2 weeks.
I got it back only because I called and asked about the whereabouts of it.
But - it came back as it should have - with newer firmware - and the bonus - it now turns on.

I called today regarding a Minitor V I sent in about three months ago; I totally forgot about it until I read this post. When I made the phone call, I couldn't find the reference number for the RMA (I have it somewhere). To make a long story short, Motorola has NO RECORD of this pager being sent in for repair nor a history of such...
May the war begin.

Guys I know at my local county sheriff radio shop sent multiple radios (MCS and XTS) and they came back as totally different, lower end, radios. When I depoted my CDM radio I half expected to get a FRS back...

wow, I visited my local MSS today, Diversified Electronics, who used to be an exclusive Motorola Pinnacle Club dealer. I was talking to the parts manager who ordered a VHF Jedi antenna for me. He told me how he sent and XTS5000 in back in Dec of 06, and still has not come back, no record of it.
I also noticed they are selling KENWOOD and ICOM radios. He said this was due to "customer demand" and that "people aren't buying Motorola as they are too expensive and the product quality is slipping, not to mention the total lack of service they were once famous for", this is a shop that 5 years ago would not so much as touch a non-Motorola product. Now they're selling them and servicing them.
No problems getting Kenwood's serviced. They have a 1 week turnaround time. I told him he should bone up on his Spanish and get used to Ed Zander's MotoTrsh.

So they'll just shove that codeplug right into a UHF high split MT2000 with lab RSS, stick the model label on the back and call it good
