HOST DSP Combination Concerns?

Post by grinthock »

I'm looking at picking up a XTS3K and it has the following HOST/DSP

R05.60.00
DSP N08.02.02
Flashcode 580008-000000-3

What concerns if any might I have from a functionality standpoint, ideally I need conventional plus Smartzone and obviously IMBE support.

I understand the host is rather old -- just looking for info from the experts on what the major concerns would be.

What radios do you own?: Progreso soup can with CRT

What is it?

Here's the flashcode breakout:

580008-000000-3

Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H14/G114 Digital ID Display
H868/W298 Conventional Multikey and Analog Conventional MDC OTAR
H38/G51 Smartzone Operation

I can't tell you if it's a 512K or 1MB radio but probably someone
else can.

Yep I was able to decode the flashcode myself.

The question really is more about the HOST.. What kind of limitations will a host version of that give me?

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

I don't think much, if any.

The radio looks "legit" and I don't think your going to have any problems using it normally.

That Host/DSP is not correctly paired as released from Motorola.

Doesn't mean it won't work at all, however there are reasons why Host releases are paired with DSP releases such as subtle register initialization that may only exist in new versions.

Mismatched Host and DSP pairs may result in degraded performance due to uninitialized parameters in the DSP or new features that are not properly configured by the Host in the DSP.

That is either a 512K XTS3000 (they DO exist by the way) or someone franken-flashed it and did not take the time to reflash the Host properly.

Motofanatic is correct - they also could have swapped the vocoder board from a newer radio as well.

The code builds are paired for good reason - since the HOST and DSP have access to each others memory and closely interact with each other, I wouldn't trust having the firmware mismatched at all.

Cheers,
Matt
