One more question. In the ht1550 using the radio I opened up the utilities then went to software version. The radio displays R05.03.02. Can I program this radio with CPS R06.01.00 or are the two completely irrelevant?

You have firmware R05.03.02 (fairly recent... I think the newest is R05.11.05). You will *probably* be able to program that with CPS R06.01, unless someone's hit it with something newer. However, the two numbers are completely unrelated... it's possible to have an R02 firmware only programmable by the latest and greatest CPS.
