Zetron 4048 / Audio level at 4217B

Ok, I am in the process of installing a 4048.

After doing all RX input alignments and level sets I get a CRAP load of audio at the 4217B panel....

Even if the Sel / Un-Sel knobs are only cracked open a 1/16 or something.... There seems to be no linear response to these volume controls...and no way to adjust that audio on the back other than the mute level...

So we called zetron and they sent us some papers down on a NEW alignment procedure that has you drop the threshhold down to like a -28db and adjust the RX pot for a call light...

This gave me a little more comfortable play in the volume control, but still at a little less than half volume the select speaker is enough to make your ears hurt...

so, you have to turn up the volume to hear non-broadcast audio like IRR playback or paging sidetone...

Anyone else ran into this before?

Thanks,

Nick

Is it the Integrator RD model with video? You have individual auidio settings for each module on the screen. Also there are some volume pots on the back of the audio panel. Also on the DCC's firmware version 2.70 is haveing issues. They bump you back a version if compatible.

I set ours up by puting an on freq signal with a 1000hz tone at 1/2 the system deviation (1.25 in our case on a 2.5 narrow band freq)

Adjusted the RX level at the channel card to give a "0" indication on the bar graph at the panel. On the panel Vol Adj my channels run from 75 for the main channels to 9 for the ones we monitor but realy do not want to hear. In normal operation the Bar Graph peaks well over 0 as the normal system deviation is set very close to 2.5. The low talkers at least make 0.

We have no problem with the IRR or Paging tones they sound about the same as the channel with the Vol Set at 75. Also never misses an MDC ID, not Zetrons recomended setup but it works for me.

The only Pots I am aware of are the Minimun Vol (how low you can set the Sel and UnSel knobs) I have them set at about 1/2 so they can never turn the audio all the way off. I have 9 set as my minimum volume set in the programing also.

Nick,
I've seen this with the expansion audio panels for monitor audio. The volume pots are very sensitive and we never did get the issue resolved. I am inclined to believe its a card issue as you say you have to turn the vol up to hear paging tones, etc...
