M1225 VHF 45 Watt with NO TX or RX

Have a power up beep, radio programs and the functions all work but there is no TX or RX. The radio does not even key up. Wide open squelch does not RX at all.
Anybody know if this is a common problem. Maybe the PA?
Thank you for any input you can provide.

9 times out of 10, if both the TX & RX are affected & all else seems ok, the reference oscillator crystal has gone bad. I'm too lazy to look in a manual at the moment, but it's likely either a 14.4MHz or 16.8MHz crystal.

If it's the reference oscillator, hurry up and order one from Moto cus they are gonna be cancelled upon current stock depletion

Is it not the same crystal as the R1225? I've honestly never had to repair a R1225 other than the P.A. so I don't know the crystal package off-hand. But if they're the same & the R1225 is still a current production radio, it'd be strange to have a stock depletion going on.

Nope, the M1225 is a 16.8 crystal, R1225 is a 16.8 module.

It looks like the same crystal that is used in the P1225 portable and that part number is 4802081B71 witch is also a 16.8????

Unless they have had a change in policy, Motorola will not release the 16.8 reference crystals outside their doors. International Crystal sells a direct replacement however.

Ah, good enough then.
