XTS5000 Issues

XTS5000 Issues

XTS 5000 Model I's p25 conventional, simplex, w/encryption, VHF at High Power the full 6 watts and Im getting Tx range of 1/4 mile radio to radio. There are few single story commercial buildings in the area. Quantar/Otar repeater out of budget range for now. Need help and recomendations to get extended range.

alignment issues? Did you use a watt meter to measure the output?

that sound like a good question for our service contractor. I would like to think they would have already done that before they sent out our radios. I will have to find out.

how do you know they are putting out 6 watts if you haven't put them on a wattmeter?

6 watts high or 1 watt low, a properly working pair of XTS5000's with the correct antennas should have no problem communicating at <i><b>at least</i></b> 1320' (1/4 mi.), don't ya think?

I doubt they are correctly working is the point, and if there is reflected power going back into the guts then limited coverage will be the least of his worries...

When I recieved the radios I asked our service contractor if they were set at high power ( 6 watts ) due to the fact that the radios were operating on simplex with no repeater and he assured me they were.
