Batboard

I've run across a few Saber Si's (SI?), and found it curious that they tend to go for about the same price as an ASTRO Saber. I understand what it is, but have to wonder why they're going for so much: 800 MHz only, no real Flash features/digital, and an extremely hard-to-get programming interface... Is it just the rarity of the radios that drives the price up, or is something else going on with them to make them so pricey?

dunno why it never caught on really - they were very neat radios.... i even saw one that was converted to UHF once.... used an MTS RF board and changed the RF connector on it.

Having owned one, and now owning an Astro Saber 800, the receiver on the SI was hot hot hot, especially compared to anyting in the current line.

it's nothing more than a bastard child Jedi....and will be pretty much useless after rebanding as it is NOT SUPPORTED. why SUCKERS would pay anything for one (or any non-rebandable 800 radio like an STX) is further proof of the PT Barnum theory.

parts are almost non-existent, and forget help from Motorola, as anything that WAS made for it has long been NLA'ed.

Nothing really special about it, basically an MTS2000 with very buggy firmware in an Astro style housing with two line display...being that you can actually buy Astro Sabers for LESS...why would anyone waste their time on these red headed stepchildren?

I would not mind adding one to my collection somedayjust to have one. A unique piece of Motorola history.

lol good one Although I have never owned an SI, they do tend to go for much more then your common MTS or Astro saber (model I or sometimes even a model III) probably due to the fact that they are so rare. I wouldn't waste my money on one. Like others have said, you need special software specific to the SI, and it's just a PITA.

Maybe i should of used my SI for parts for another radio....
