MT2000 Question

I was tring to program some narrow band channels in my MT2000 VHF m3 to see if it would take them and the software gave me an error stating that radio needs firmware upgrade,because of the 12.5 channels. I went back and removed the narrow band channels and it still gives me the error. Can I fix this code plug? Or will I have to start over again? The software is version 6.00(old) because we stopped getting any more MT2000's because some people are too stupid to operate them.
