How to disable MDC on an AS3...

Post by Tom in D.C. »

My AS3/UHF works fine, but I can not get it to stop
sending data bursts on the first three personalities
when the radio is keyed. Someone please tell me
what I can do to make it stop. I could just dummy
up some unused channels but I'd rather just shut
the function off, if that's possible.

I'm working in CPS.

Thanks.

did you disable it in the signaling tab for those modes?
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

AS# unwanted signalling...

Post by Tom in D.C. »

Yep, I've got it down now to where it only sends the data
on personality #1, but if I enter NONE for signalling on
that personality I get an error in the view menu. I am
thoroughly confused.

Thanks for the help.

What's the flashcode?

The flashcode very likely has little bearing in this particular case.

I'm gathering you've already tried to simply disable PTT-ID on each conventional personality. So, let's see if we can nip this in the bud.

If you're getting errors under View > Invalid Fields, it should show you exactly what's wrong.

I'm guessing maybe you have Emergency Revert enabled under the MDC system. Look under

Conventional > MCD > MDC System X > Emergency Revert

and see if the fields are editable. Then check

Conventional > MCD > MDC System X > Emergency

to see if you have Emergency enabled. If you do and you don't need it, disable it. I'll bet your error goes away at that point and you can turn off MDC signalling on that final pesky conventional personality.

If all else fails, I'd be happy to look at the codeplug for you.

AS3 nuttiness...

Post by Tom in D.C. »

Well, thanks to Akardam's advice I got into the right part of
the system and the radio's no longer doing data bursts. What
I actually did was to ENABLE the emergency revert and for
whatever reason that solved the problem.

Now I think I'll go and read the book I have for the old
V.8 DOS RSS and try to learn some things in depth about
the radio. It can't hurt.

Thanks to all who took time to write.

I'm having the same problem and just want to delete all of the conventional channels off of this radio. I get "invalid field" errors every time I try. I have tried to search around to disable the emergency revert function, but can't find it anywhere and when I disable MDC, or delete the conventional personality, the errors appear and cannot be made to go away. The only way that I can get out of the error is to close the CP without saving. I have it down to one conventional personality right now and just would like it gone. I can't even make it a RX only channel as that makes the errors appear as well.
