MTX8000 B3 problems

I have a B3 that doesn't seem to program properly.
According to the RSS,it has a 48 channel codeplug in it.I can program one zone, complete with one scan list, and everything works fine.I am using the a\b\c switch to select scan, and the rotary dial for channels. All other buttons are unprogrammed and not duplicated.I do notice that in in order to turn scan on and off,I have to switch it,then turn the radio off and back on,or it goes deaf.
If I try to add another zone, the radio doesn't seem to work.It turns on,but no receive. The odd time it will scan, but you cannot manually select channels. When I turn it on I get the normal startup beep, then a short boop, the same boop you get when you hit an unprogrammed button. This doesn't happen when only one zone is programmed.I only get the normal startup beep.
Sometimes it will just give you a long tone (like when you select an unprogrammed channel),and there is no way to stop it without turning it off.
I also get the short boop when trying the a\b\c switch to select zones.
I have tried multiple configurations.I would like to set it up so the a\b\c switch is used to select zones, and the rotary knob is used for channel selection.Scan is controlled by the concentric switch.
The radio will sometimes emit a high continuous tone while writing the codeplug, but not always.Same tone as the startup beep, but it doesn't stop until the codeplug write has finished.
Radio seems very slow, and sluggish compared to my other MTX's
I tried the combination above,as well as the opposite using the rotary for zone select, and the toggle for channel selection, still no luck.
Also tried with no scan,or scan lists, one scan list, and three scan lists.
How many scan lists can you use ? Can you have 3 separate ones on this radio ?
Anyone have any ideas ? Corrupt codeplug maybe ?
