Spectra Questions Help Anyone?

I have a VHF Spectra dash mount with A4. I was messing around on the service menu. In the messaging section It had all sorts of unknow characters. I came to one and it had a 9. I changed it around alittle and it started making a sound similar to morse code. Can anyone sell me what the Message part is all about.
