Reading an XTS under "Radio Locked"

I know someone who has a couple model IIIs, and uses the mandatory password on them, and I've never been able to read them in CPS, but I know you can write to them. So I was just wondering if anyone has ever known of a radio that is locked by the keypad to be able to be read via RSS/LAB/CPS. I doubt it, but I'm just curious. Even if you could pull an s-record, and put it in another radio, it would still be locked, so that wouldn't matter would it? Or have s-records been hacked to be able to decode the password from an s-record?
This is what happens with my mind when I get bored...

I programmed my xts model 3 for keypad lock (incase some ass takes it or someone who doesn't need to use it picks it up..) and I can still read it just fine. My CPS doesn't even ask for the password, and you can still write to it too.

Yep...same here. All of the Model III's I use are keypad locked
and never have had an issue with reading or writing to them.
I've never used the codeplug password feature, maybe that is what you are experiencing as the issue.

Radio lock and keypad lock are two completely different things..
Radio lock prompts the user for a password upon power up of the radio. Keypad lock just locks the keypad to prevent un-authorized access to the menu features or so the keypad buttons are not pressed accidentally.
I have never had a problem reading a radio with password lock enabled..
You will run into problems if the radio has a trunking system package, and has been inhibited due to un-authorized use on a system..

That's my fault for the mis-explanation. By locked by the keypad, I meant the password feature, I was trying to avoid confusion with the radio being inhibited by either a trunked system or the MDC feature etc... I know you would be able to read the radio when the keypad is locked, but my question was more about using a password on the radio, and then turning it on where it displays "RADIO LOCKED" and THEN trying to read it.

You can read the radio if the radio is locked by the password feature.

OK, just tried and it worked on my end too. So I think I was probably doing something wrong in the past, or it might have been a software issue. Not sure. Thanks guys.
