Looks like a couple Nick radios popped up on eBay, and both look like they have the yellow rugged housings, and I was just wondering if the watchbuddy radios came like this. I've never really looked at all the details before when looking on eBay, and noticed the flashcode's (591008-4F1E00-9) today, and picked up on it. I ran a search for "nick XTS3000R" and only got one result, and it was about the "ASTRO" stickers for the bottom.
Also, there's a model II with a model number of "H09SDH...", is it just me, or is that a model III model number? And, Is it worth picking one up if the price is right? I know I can kiss any service good bye, but if I can pick up a III for cheap, would it be something worth pursuing?

Yes some did come like this.
DO NOT use it in a situation requiring intrinsic safe operation as nicks radios were not built with the IS machine.
Check the firmware versions from the seller as he sold xts models with only a couple versions.
If it does not match, the radio prob just has a whore codeplug or had the firmware bumped(rare as no tags).

OK, the firmware for one of them shows it being the 2002 model (Host 5/DSP 6.11). I really don't have any use for IS operation, I just had never heard of them being "built" this way. Thanks.
I wonder if anyone has ever had luck putting a regular s-record into it before sending it to the depot. Since it would show a legit radio, would they service it? Maybe just throw tags back on it too. Or are they smart enough to look at the Host/DSP? Oh well, just a thought...

As cbus said, it might have just had a plug or Srec dumped in with that flash.. That 4F1E plug is quite common, and floating around all over the place. So just because it has that flash, doesn't always mean it's an actual "Nick" radio.
Just something to keep in mind..

Alright, I was going off the flash and Host/DSP. I just emailed them to find out if it has the factory tags, and if they match. Thanks
