Is this a standard or rapid charger? It seems like it charges my HT1000 batt in like 3 or 4 mins!?!??!?!?

Either the charger or the battery is defective. Try a different battery.

If you had the current delivery capacity to charge a depleted battery in 3 or 4 minutes, it would most probably explode. Literally.

It does this to all 3 motorola batteries. What I wanted to know is if it is a standard or rapid charger. It probably takes a battery about 10 mins from the time the battery starts beeping saying low battery. I put it on the charger, the red and green lights alternate, and then the red charging light stays flashing. In about 10 minutes, its green indicating fully charged. Whats up?

Hi Matt! One quick question, you listed a NTN7029A battery? "confirm batt.number?" Cause I'm at county radio repair, goin thru there mot. books on batteries (back to 1996 to now) and I cannot find a 7029 ? I know what an HT1000 takes..now...also let us in on the model numbers on your chargers! will check with ya later...Ed

He's asking about the CHARGER, not the battery. The part number is for a charger.

But I don't know which one, myself.

Hi Elroy! Yea! I also checked chargers! Either I missed that number? whatever? I didn't see it there! I have an NTN4734 charger for a saber. Since NTN is for chargers & batteries. I looked for both! Oh well, see if I can find another book here that dosen't have a pound of coffee spiled on it....thanks Elroy...Ed

Look down seven lines & there is NTN7209A 220V. I'm puzzled, another email came in from a battery/charger company saying its a Battery not a charger! (so much for that) Another said its a 12 hour charger? but since he sent NO documentation, or website as to where he got his info? (I'd pass on it) I hope you get that charger fixed! (be carefull with that unit...wish I had more info for ya! 73's Ed

While y'all are arguing over part numbers.......

You mentioned the light flashes red for about 10 mins. Typically, when the rapid chargers detect a very low voltage reading remaining on a battery, they have to trickle charge the battery for a short time to get it started charging. Then after the trickle charge cycle of a few minutes, the red light goes steady to indicate rapid charging is in progress.

Now back to the part numbers. Since the charger indicates a trickle charge for about 10 mins and then turns green, either you have the correct battery for that charger and the battery (all of them) are worthless or the charger is incompatible with that series of battery. I'll let y'all determine if the part numbers are any good.

Well, a couple of things. It says on the bottom both 110 and 220, that it will accept both?!?!?!? It charges up my battery fine.... so it or the batteries are not defective.... i just dont know. Forget about the light flashing, that was an error. It is steady red for like 10 minutes, and then turns green. Maybe I should use the radio until it physically wont work, and then charge it and see what happens! Ill let you know. That website listed indicates: NTN7209A Quick charger for 1 unit, 220V, 1 hour (incl. GKN6121A). The one hour obviously being a rapid charger. Maybe I have one of those premature low battery thing goign on like was discussed a couple of weeks ago. Ill use up the battery completely and see how long it takes to charge. That site also indicates its for the Motorola Radius GP900, but Im using it for a HT1000??????? I HAVE NO CLUE!!!! Thanks!

Yea! Matt, I started out with the HT1000 & searching on there on the http://www.mot site! And I don't know how I got to a gp900, I was doing some heavy searching on the model & I saw that. but I figure I'd send it to you since that was all I found! later Ed

Last email in tonite from "county radio repair". Someone I know has an HT1000 SAME charger as you have & the model number is the SAME! He uses NTN7143C (1200Mah) batteries! And he said those chargers, are "bad" on any battery, that you put in "that" charger, if its not dead! If it still is 50/60% & you drop it in the charger? They develop a mem. & then you have to run your batteries thru a tri-analyzer to re-store the battery! But the charger is a rapid charger (60-90 mins)!!!! 73's Matt will cya later! Ed
