CDM1250 Low Band will not power up ??
This unit has never been used w/ignition sense so I don't think that's the problem. It was working in a vehicle and now will not power up?
Any suggestions on where to start?
thanks!

- What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's
just get a meter out and start doing away with the obvious, make shure it has a good ground and that it's not grounding itself thru the antennae, make shure you have a good positive feed and no blown fuses. take it out and plug it into a good working source. if you have a known good radio plug it into that spot and see if it works?

And if HLA's advice shows the wiring good and the radio bad then it's off to depot. They have been repairing them for me under FSB10005 (EEPROM Error). To prevent this then Moto has a firmware upgrade which is R05.05.19 (supposedly)

Then FSB system replaced the SRN bulletins. It means Field Service Bulletin. That's the number you reference on your service request you include with the radio when you send it to the depot.
Usually they replace either the Serial Eeprom or if it's the second (or more) time through they blow out the main board. Interestingly enough I just got one back today that they replaced the Eeprom and the Passport board.
Oh well, I hope that helps.

Same here. Jake, sorry I didn't see your message, I haven't checked the forum till this morning.ve3nsv wrote:We where still getting radios fixed under the FSB10005 well into January and the Motorola Rep dealing with our GCC said they where investigating whether to extend the FSB given the amount of radios still failing after issuing the R05.05.15 Firmware upgrade to correct the CS and HW EEPROM ERORRS.

Back to square one..
well i contacted Chris at Motorola.. turns out the FSB10005 is for a different problem that i have all together. That FSB is for a radio that powers up, then gives an eeprom error. And he said that FSB was dead anyways... The radios i am having problems with won't power up at all, no display or anything, completely dead!!
Thanks for every ones input.. if anyone can still point me in a direction as to a certain component or something that can help i would appreciate it.. a schematic for these things would be AWESOME!!!!!!!
thanks again!

Have you cycled power on it (ie pulled the fuse and put it back) and if so did it power on then? If not then it will still probably go into Moto for service. If it came back on find out what firmware version it is (By the serial # IIRC). There was a firmware upgrade package that dealt with this issue. Let me know either way.

Edit: Try plugging it back in anyway if it's been out of the vehicle a while, you never know...

I have been having issues with the CDM lowbands also. They come in to us either dead, braindead or eeprom error. Seems our customer does a lot of WELDING on the chassis of the vehicles while the radios were powered up...
Although we have attempted to educate them, they continue to periodically blow up a radio with this practice. Another customer with the UHF version who does the same thing does not have that problem.
Without fail, these have all been repaired at the depot without any hassle. (ARCHIVE your codeplugs, yur gunna need em!)

well, our company owns over 7,000 radios of differnt types, mostly kenwood, and we are able to repair everything we own at component level. These CDM's came from a company our company purchased and we had/have no knowledge of these things and the way motorola does things just blows my mind. Most, of these radios have never been across our bench so when they come in broken it's the first time we've seen them. I've sent all the warranty stuff to moto repairs. When they come back repaired I think they are just replacing the main board, as the part number they show listed isn't a component.. so who knows. It would just be nice to be able to repair these on our own... maybe we'll figure it out in time.
Thanks again for every ones help and input and if anyone else can help it would be appreciated!
