Well I saw this very cool installation of a XTVA in the rear of an SUV with the HHCH mounted in the front of the vehicle.
Having concerns about sheilding on mike lines and such I decided to attempt the same thing with my XTVA. I always could use a 2nd radio when something is going on and want to dedicate a channel.
So I set out to see if I could get it to work and it did.
I used a 25 foot T1 sheilded cable and a Female to Female sheilded barrel connector. I also have a tri-band austin antenna connected to it so I can use VHF/UHF or 800 radios in it.
Works great...Less filling...Total cost.....$7.00 for the female-to-female barrel connector (I had the T1 cable left over from something else)
I will post some pictures in the next couple of days.

I just installed an XTVA today in the rear of an SUV. The guy wanted his mic in the glove box and the speaker under the seat. I used a new cable left over from the cell phone days to extend the mic cable. It worked out great. As for the speaker, they use a four conductor cable. I used two cable butt-spliced togeather and it reached with no problem.

The "old cell phone" cable was exactly what I was thinking of. I'm just wondering about trivial things like adjusting the volume, scan, mode, etc., with the radio being out of reach. I live in a really small town, but there are times that I want to listen to only PD, SO, or FD, depending on where something is happening. I just bought an XTVA and haven't gotten it yet. I have the HHCH for it already. This sounds like an interesting project...
