This hasn't been addressed yet, I've done the searching.

I have a normal 'A4' Visar that I want to change to DTMF. Changing the bit alone to enable the keypad doesn't work. DTMF Visars ar 'A7' models. I probably need to change the model number but am NOT have success, the radio just figures out what it really is and that's how it stays.

I've simply changed the model #, no checksum and RSS doesn't like it.

I've changed the model number and corrected the checksum overall, but RSS still figured out that it's not an A7. There's another checksum that fixes this, but idk where. The radio fixes it on its own apparently because sticking in an altered archive into the radio and rereading it shows the number changing.

That said, maybe putting a codeplug in the radio from someone else's DTMF visar will do the trick. The only problem is that the last time someone requested on the whole thread pretty much went unresolved.

mine is an H05RDD9AA4DN

Maybe someone has an aswer for me!

"E"? What band is it on? I'm only familiar with K, R, S, U, and W.

I have a S split (450-512) DTMF Visar that I am going to send N9LLO a codeplug from so he can try.

If yours is a UHF, I can send you one, too.

I upgraded a non-DTMF Visar once and found that, as you described, the bit-banging doesn't do a lick of good. Forcing a codeplug was the only way to go.

My bad it's an 'R' split 403-470. I don't know if you can alter the model number at all to reflect the 'R' split.

That's what the other guy (N9LLO) has. I wouldn't be surprised if an S split codeplug would work fine without any hacking; likely the only pain you'll have to deal with is needing to use the shift-number trick to enter ham band frequencies in the software. I can send you a copy of my codeplug when I send one to N9LLO (probably tomorrow or Thursday before I can get at it).

Yeah, I guess that'll work--- unless someone has a codeplug available now in the right band, or can successfully h4x0r mine lol.
