My RIB, is it a good one??

I purchased a RIB recently, off eaby, from radiostew-aol.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-RIB-with-serial ... dZViewItem

Now, I am wondering if its a good enough RIB to use/ program the following radio types.

Motorola MTS 2000, HT1000, Saber, System Saber, Astro Saber, Astro Spectra.

Now, am I going to be risking "making a brick" out of my radios, or is this a good enough RIB? Anyone use this type of RIB?

Thanks for your input.

You should be fine with that RIB as the Radiostew version is basically the same electronically as the Motorola RIB.

Heck, I don't even use my Motorola RIB that I have. I use an aftermarket "Poket RIB" on everything and haven't bricked a radio yet. It's been programming radios for years with no problems. I will cry if it ever goes missing or breaks...

I have two of those, and they work flawlessly. They're an identical clone to the real RLN4008 and are compatible in every way. The first RIB I got from Stew however, needed some touching up in the solder department. A pin on a chip wasn't soldered, and the RIB didn't work until I figured that part out.

Also, it's impossible to "brick" any of the radios you posted, so don't worry.

I've used that RIB for several years and it's still working great! Good choice....

I build the same RIB and have delt with Stew in the past. It's based and a PCB board by Sandy Ganz. We just add the componets.

It's a great kit.. Good luck.
