Hi I have a Kenwood TK890H UHF and a 690H Low Band. I have always had trouble finding the best antenna for the roof. Can anyone reccommend good antennas for receiving and transmitting? Cost doesnt matter but I dont want it to be too big a foot or two is ok. thanks

Jason

"Low band" and "short antenna" are mutually exclusive terms.

Low-band? Ball-mount a 102" (or so) whip. Anything else is going to be negative gain... if you're going for a low-band antenna that's only a foot or two, just buy a dummy load and connect that up.

As for the UHF, I prefer the RadiallLarsen spring-loaded 3dB gain whips.

I have a friend that uses a Maxrad 47mHz coil and a longer whip to get his 42-44mHz working the best it can with a roof top. Works great! Of course thats only if you cant do the ball and whip...

I run Antenex b4503's on all my cars now using 8x cable for uhf. Low profile and much better performance than the 4505's they ran before.
