Astro Road Map

Post by RailroadTech »

Anybody seen a Astro road map?

6.x features....
7.x features....

and

I guess in time 8.x

When will the next generation of subscribers get introduced and what features should the have?

The way I see it legacy portables XTS3000, Astro Spectra have about 5 years of support left. Motorola is still rolling out Astro subscribers and new features on the current XTS/XTL 1500, 2500, 5000 generation but I suspect in about 3 or 4 years when people have to start thinking about phasing out thousands of XTS3000s and Astro Spectra there would be some new subscribers.

I was wondering what the big picture for Astro looks like?
P25 Phase 2?

Anybody know?

Its good to see that APCO have finally been convinced that TDMA is the go instead of FDMA. I'm araid that our friends across the pond realized this long ago and hence the Tetra standard.
even the DTR series is TDA. No doubt APCO will continue to fight the actual TETRA system so they dont loose influence.
It is APCO that stopped full duplex portables on P25
