XTS2500 Case Opening???

Post by DES-AJ »

Hi everyone,

Got a Model 3 XTS2500I the other day and I'm curious how do you open it? I have the standard XTS3000/5000 case opening tool (6685833D01) however it doesn't seem to be compatible with the 2500 series. I was able to lift the bottom of the case out but it resisted too much to actully seperate it from the housing so their has to be something else that needs to be done... This is also an I version of the 2500 which means it's immersible in water, the buttons are different on the side of the radio to a normal XTS2500 so its possible some other design details are different to (i.e opening the case) Anyone able to help?

You need the 6685666D01 tool. It's totally different than the XTS3K & 5K tool. It also includes a knob puller on the other end.

For a while, that part was showing NLA in the book.

Both knobs come off.
