Jedi Series PTT Buttons, and also Saber or Jedi for Upgrade?

Hey y'all,

Once I got a used Jedi radio and found that the PTT button was very hard to press and keep pressed for a long time compared to the Waris radios I normally used. I would end up releasing the PTT button in the middle of a TX without even noticing at times because of my hand getting slightly sore. I have since sold this radio. Is this normal for the Jedi series or was it just maybe a once off thing because this was a used radio? The cosmetic condition was ok, just a little dust was all. Also, I am soon going to take my crappy old Waris radios out of service and replace them with either Jedi's or Saber I's or II's....which series/model gives better standard TX/RX, simple features and around-town-range (estimates, of course its hard to tell depending on the sitution). I'm using 470-480 UHF simplex with whip antenna's, and how much should I expect to pay for each model with a good batt, ant and belt clip, and also how much for an rsm, good extra battery, a single rapid charger and a rapid gang charger? Finally what about simple programming of min 4 channels and max 48 channels plus simple features programming such as high/low power, monitor, scan etc?

Thanks pplz.

Well, I'm a Jedi guy too and I've noticed the same thing. I have a dozen or so MTS2000 and MT2000 radios and at least half of them have a very stiff PTT. The old finger gets fatigued from holding the bar down to the point you can't even feel it.

Still love my Jedi's though...

pop the cover and realign the ptt switch. you may need a new piece of scotch tape on it.
they usually go stiff when the whatever you call it moves.

Good idea Bruce. The part is called a "popple" shaped like a small copper dome.

EXACTLY... And it isn't even worth messing with. Just live with the stiff PTT.

There's not really a lot you can do about it. If you put on a refurb kit the PTT will likely feel different, but otherwise there isn't much to fix unless you want to go into the radio and put a bunch of tape on top of the "Popple".
