Is there such a thing as a dash mount Spectra with a C9 control head? The "Big M" isn't sure and I don't have one in front of me to figure it out! I've seen them remote mounted, but I don't know if it's even possible to have a dash mount one!

You cannot attach the " C-9 ", that is Systems 2000 control head directly to the body of the radio. The alpha prefix refers to the radio not the head so whether you call the Sys 9000 a C-9, A-9, it's the same physically configured head. It won't go on any Spectra or Astro Spectra radio directly. You have to use a control cable.
The A/B/C-5 and A/B/C-7 heads can mount on the Spectra. Also, if your radio is configured for the -5 of -7 head, using the Systems 9000 head will reduce your readout simply to " MODE 1, MODE 2 ", etc.
If you have a C-9 radio and want to have the radio as close as possible, you could get a console with a console faceplate made for that head and put the radio inside of the console, but you'd have many turns of cable taking up space, too. This would only be useful if you do not want to run the control cable from the trunk to the dash, but then the antenna coax has to find its way outside.
If the radio will be used to transmit, you will certainly need to run a heavy gauge power lead to the battery or equally heavy gauge power line. If, however, your radio is only for monitoring, you might get away with tapping into the cigarette lighter positive line and firmly grounding the negative to the vehicle.

this topic looks like it should be moved, anyways, Systems 9000 is a remote head setup. the A, B,C E are designators such as (A) Conventional (B) Privacy Plus Trunking, (C) Smartnet Trunking and (E) Enhanced. If you want a dash mount unit with almost the same functionality I would get a unit with a 7 head on it...
