What's a good size for a capacitor across the alternator output to cure alternator whine?
Thanks for any advice.

I remember using a 0.5 mFd co-axial, it had a mounting / ground lug attached to the side and a # 10 screw on each end. Mount it right onto the alternator housing, connect the battery lead to one end, and a jumper to where the output (battery) cable was attached to.
Good (?) old Ratt Shak, might still have one hanging on the wall.
I heard that someone had blown up his alternator with one of them, but it was later found out that he had somehow hooked up the regulator's field lead to the thing... not good!

If it's a Crown Vic, you should get a Noise filter (Tessco?)
Just get an Alternator Whine Filter

Find a TLN5277E (or equal) Alternator Whine Filter. Do it once and right.
